After a very pleasant and successful Christmas Eve, Henrik was again ready to struggle with our very uncooperative engine. The staff on the boat yard where we were, had given him an old piece of rubber, so he could cut the seal for the heat exchanger himself, because it had broken, when the raw water pump was working again. Henrik made it, so it worked (but it wasn't pretty, as he explained), and on Boxing Day we left St. Augustine and headed towards Fort Lauderdale; a 250 nm trip in nearly no wind.
I don’t always think it’s easy being far away from home and especially not during Christmas. I've always celebrated Christmas with my parents except for last year, where we 6 days earlier arrived in Martinique after 31 very long days at the Atlantic Ocean. Then we had our Christmas dinner in a very un-cosy corner of a restaurant in town, and I think we managed to get on the wrong side of each other before the night was over.
Fancy owning Superyacht ?
We have now finally made it to Florida! We arrived in St. Augustine early this morning after two days at sea, which turned out to be quite a cold experience. Henrik found great pleasure in sailing again, though, in spite of the cold weather - and I managed as well.
Our next boat auction starts just after Christmas with around 60 boats and you can view them all NOW in the auction catalogue has just gone live. You have time before the auction to make an appointment with the broker to view the boat or check out all the photos, full spec of each boat entered into the auction. Like last week, it was our plan this week to do an overnight sail in the Atlantic in order to move south more quickly, but once again we continued in the ICW. Last week, too much wind was holding us back, and this week, there was too little wind!

Traditionally, boating and boat ownership have been viewed as lifestyle choices which, to a certain extent, resist the ups and downs of economic flux. The desire and passion to get afloat and enjoy all that sailing has to offer results in many people owning boats despite, rather than because of, the financial consequences of so doing. Whilst those considerations still apply to areas of the second-hand, brokerage boat market, the long tail of the recent recessions in the UK and mainland Europe and the general global downturn, has had a real impact upon the marketplace, which has continued during 2014.
Boatshed Brixham and Dartmouth are delighted to offer for sale a well presented Merry Fisher 635. A few extra additions in the cabin make a weekend away a little more comfortable with extra stowage, doors to the forecabin (provides heads privacy) and an infill for the berth. She is well equipped with a recent Garmin Fishfinder and also is offered for sale with a 2013 inflatable tender that has only been used once!
Boatshed have teamed up with professional drone photographers AltiVision to offer a completely new perspective on boats for sale. Launching the products at the PSP Southampton Boat Show, Neil Chapman commented “We have previously done some aerial photography of boats but helicopters and light aircraft make the costs prohibitive. By utilising drones, we hope we are able to bring this service to many people selling their boats with Boatshed”.

Boatshed Dartmouth are delighted to offer for sale a two owner from new, well maintained and very well presented, Jeanneau Merry Fisher 8. For cruising, the Merry Fisher 8 offers two distinct living spaces - a large saloon and a forward cabin in a spacious and well-balanced interior layout. The large volume of space on the interior can accommodate a family of four or two couples, featuring a generous forward cabin with a double berth and a saloon that converts into a second double berth. This example has clearly been well looked after – just take a look at the engine bay photos and you’ll appreciate how clean she is.
Boatshed Dartmouth are delighted to offer for sale a one owner from new Hunter Ranger 245. The 245 is another great design from David Thomas and its amazing how much space there is in just under 25’. The self-tacking headsail makes for easy handling, a good-sized cockpit will fit everyone in and the interior feels spacious and light. This example currently lies afloat and is well presented.
Appointments to view can be booked in advance 6-days a week directly with your Boatshed Dartmouth broker.
Boatshed Dartmouth are pleased to offer for sale a one owner from new, White Shark 265. I have had the pleasure of brokering several White Sharks and they are excellent performers and are also well equipped. The design and layout is always good and the 265 is no exception with two berths and a small galley cleverly concealed in the helm position.
